Speedheat backed Michiel Bester and Team England at the Indoor Cricket World Cup in Australia.
Michiel is the technical manager for electrical underfloor heating company Speedheat UK and is one of the UK’s top 10 indoor cricketers. He was sponsored by the company to help with the cost of competing in the 2009 championships.
The World Cup was his international debut . Born in South Africa, he competed against his former home nation, along with New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and Canada.
Huge crowds were at the matches which were televised across Australia, but strike bowler and batsman Michiel was not phased by the highly partisan and noisy support for the home nation. England finished in the top three, with Australia taking top honours from South Africa in the final game of the tournament.
“It was a great atmosphere. Indoor cricket is really popular in Australia and much like 20-20 cricket, it’s an exciting, fast game. The ball is never dead and even though it’s played in an indoor arena you can still hit big sixes.”
“We are extremely proud of Michiel and were delighted to be able to help him compete,” said Speedheat UK managing director Joan Pentland
